Graphic t-shirts

Image
Actually was in town for memorial day weekend.  The first time in a while.  I was able to attend Expression vol. 8 graphic t-shirt party.  Some of the shirts were funny, some www like wow... you actually would wear that, and some were so righteous that I had to get a picture of it.  This was one of those shirts.  It spoke the truth of we as a people.   Earlier this year I did the ancestry DNA test... well, their were several surprises, but the biggest was that most of my DNA of 85% is from the continent of Africa, 27% Nigeria, 27% Benin, Ivroy Coast., 10% Ghana, 10% Togo, 9% Cameroon.  The shirt reflects what happened to my ancestors.

6 and done

We did 6 miles today.  It was brutal.  I thought we had started out early enough this morning to beat the heat... I guess not.  We night need to start earlier.  Felt good afterwards.

And the beat goes on

My new challenge, to go 30 days without grains.  It will be difficult because I love trisquits and popcorn.  We will see.  I have to do things differently because I want a different body when I turn 50.

Epic weekend in Indy

Epic weekend road trip to Indy.  One got put on GPS probation, one never heard of someone riding your tail like a whore at midnight, and the road rage ... well it's real.  I admit it, but I get it honestly.  IAC fundraiser was fantabulous and the entire weekend was fun, entertaining, and worth the 12 hour drive each way.

The Rockies

Image
I recently had a chance to fly over the Rockies.  The beauty of the snow capped mountains reminded me of the awesomeness of nature, the peacefulness and serenity of the works of God.  It was surreal.  It helped me to appreciate the places I have traveled  and the people I met along the way.

Hmmm something fishy

Really examining the advice people give makes me question their thinking ability and if they really know what they are talking about.  Hmmm

5 and done

On Saturday I started my training for the we walk half marathon in September.  The trainer and I did 5 miles.  Met some wonderful people a long the way who were giving out shots of Bourbon... Not that's a walk.

The beginning ...

In the beginning m&d, had a baby girl...bla,bla bla,...y'all know the story.  As I enter my 49th year of life, I have decided to document this entire year in a blog.  You see theoretically I should have been dead at 36.  Very few people survive an aortic aneurysm, but I did.  By the grace of God, I made it.  I have always wondered why I'm still hear.  But this year I'm going to stop wondering and live life to the fullest.  Thinking out side the box and doing things differently as I lead up to the big 50.  Enjoy the adventures of Monica.... The good, bad and the ugly?
